For most boat owners doing their own work, plexiglas is a better choice as it is easier to get and easier to work with. either material is sold in a wide variety of thicknesses, colors and sizes.. A wooden buck or the base that the windshield will fasten to will work. i made a buck out of 2x4's for this demo, but i used the base of the windshield to make my original moldings. continue. An unfortunate accident ripped the windshield off my 18' white skiff. the po tried towing it with its full cover in place and the wind's pull yanked the whole windshield off..
